Oxytinis

The Purple Haze

The Purple Haze

All Oxytinis are made in the same way.  Generous amounts of booze poured into a shaker with whole fruits or herbs, shaken like Shakira and microstrained into a martini glass.  Simple, yet sublime.

When first developed at the Doctor Jack University Memorial Medical Mixing Center, they were called Antioxytinis.  But, both researchers and patients found the name too onerous to pronounce, particularly after more than one, so the name was changed to Oxytinis.

The effects of this subset of the Martini are the same though.  Oxytinis are just better for you than a regular “silver bullet”.

There are three reasons for this.

1) A 1999 study published in the British Medical Journal showed that shaking a cocktail improves the antioxidant capabilities of the drink. http://www.bmj.com/cgi/content/full/319/7225/1600

2) A USDA study showed that contact with alcohol increases the antioxidant capacity of fruit.    http://ddr.nal.usda.gov/bitstream/10113/235/1/IND43876643.pdf

3) Adding health benefit-laden fruits and herbs has to be more beneficial than consuming alcohol alone.  No study, just common senses.

So, here are a few (with many more to come) Oxytini prescriptions, including the one that started it all, The Purple Haze.
