The Prickly Pear growing season is roughly from September to May. It is desert grown product, so you sometimes can find it in June to August, but not usually.
In the New York City area, two of the better locations to get the succulent cactus fruit/flower are Corrados, in Wayne, NJ and Fairway markets. In other parts of the country, check with your grocer or green market.
